The 23-year-old Canadian biathlete Megan Bankes made a clear statement admitting her alternative sexual orientation. The 23-year-old gold-winning sportsperson from Canada reported that she no longer wants to continue hiding what she is proud of.
“So here goes: I’m gay” – she posted in her Instagram profile. Bankes also mentioned that she thinks LGBT representation in sports, art, politics and all other areas to matters a lot.
Additionally, she expressed a hope that by continuing to recognize diversity as a boon and not a flaw, everyone will be able to decide how they want to live and to actually live like that, being treated with kindness and understanding that everyone’s life and comfort do matter. Bankes also thanked her team and family for their support.
As a professional sportsperson, Bankes became a world champion among juniors and also won the IBU Cup.
